Miriam Mitchell

Miriam Barnes Mitchell went home to be with her heavenly Father on May 21, 2021. She was born on October 21, 1934. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Lois Barnes, a sister, Brenda Harris, a nephew, Neil Harris and a great nephew, Tyler Harris. She is survived by her children, LaDonna (Joel) Moon, Joel (Renea) Mitchell, Bart Mitchell and Bret Mitchell. Grandchildren, Shea (Garret) Powell, Shelby Moon, Natalie (Craig) Connell, Heather (Brad) Smith and Britnee Mitchell. Seven great grandchildren and one on the way, and one great-great granddaughter; a sister Janis Harris, nephew, Jeff (Sandi) Harris and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Miriam Loved the Lord and everyone she met. She was a huge fan of Alabama football and enjoyed reading biographies. She had beautiful handwriting and loved to send cards to friends and family. Our hearts will never be the same without “Yaya”, but we are thankful for the wholeness and peace she has forever now with our Savior. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Jefferson Memorial Chapel in Trussville with a visitation for friends and family held two hours prior. Burial will immediately follow at Jefferson Memorial’s adjoining cemetery.
