Milo James Smith

December 9, 1931 — May 14, 2024

Milo James Smith, 92, died May 14, 2024, at his home in Oneonta, AL. He was born on December 9, 1931, in Dancy, AL, to Del Lozier Smith and Edson Fayette Smith. Services will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at Jefferson Memorial in Trussville, AL, with visitation at 11:00 am and the funeral at 12:00 pm.

Milo was a dedicated and selfless husband and father. Hardworking and focused, he possessed multiple talents from mechanical work to building and fixing anything, as well as enjoying various accounting jobs. Despite his quiet demeanor, he had a sharp sense of humor.

Milo enjoyed cross-stitching, puzzles, and was a very competitive player of board and card games. He especially loved playing chess with his grandsons and great-grandsons. Milo and his wife loved traveling, often accompanied by family and friends on their trips.

He was deeply involved in Bible study and cherished the fellowship he found there and at his church. Everything he did was to demonstrate the love of Jesus through his actions with his family and others.

He found joy in helping and being useful to others. Milo had a natural ability to make friends easily and was beloved by many. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Frances Hammett Smith; his daughter-in-law, Debra Frazier Smith; and his two sisters, Mary Catherine Smith Roberts and Anna Bee Smith Marine.
