Mildred LaRue Howard McWhorter, age 95 of Springville, Alabama, passed away on May 27, 2013 with her family and her four legged children Lexie and Roxie by her side. She was a member of South Roebuck Baptist Church before moving her membership to Trussville 1st Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her loving husband William Ward (Bill) McWhorter, great grandson William Seth Pannell; her parents Wylie and Bertha Busby Howard of Jemison, AL; two sisters, Malene McGlathery and Marion Wilband; two brothers Bernise C. Howard and James L. Howard. She is survived by her daughter Shirley Ann Hoffman, granddaughter Jennifer LaRue Wiggins Pannell, grandson Ronald C. Wiggins, Jr. (Deborah); great grandchildren Jessica Pannell, Alexandria Pannell, Victoria Wiggins Chappell (Dan), Colby Sisson (Mandy), Daniel Pannell (Lori); three great great-grandchildren Chloe Sisson, Cameron and Catlin Pannell. In her early years she worked for Burger Phillips as an associated buyer. Then she sold real estate for 20 years working with Molton, Allen and Williams, Johnston Rast and Hays, and Smith Realty. She retired from Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home where she loved working with people. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Past Worthy Matron at ACIPCO, and taught Real Estate at Jefferson State Community College. The family would like to thank each and every one at Oasis Hospice for their love and care, especially Pam, Stephanie and Christine. Services will be Friday May 31, 2013 at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1-2:00 PM followed by a 2:00 PM Chapel service. Chaplin Keith Best will officiate. Burial will be at Forest Crest in Irondale, Alabama.
