Mildred Huey Housh of Birmingham, Alabama died peacefully on Thursday, May 10th. She was born March 16, 1928 in Bessemer, Alabama. She graduated from Bessemer High School and TCI School. She always loved growing up in Bessemer and kept in touch with her many friends from there through the years. She married Hardy Lex Housh, Sr. and they lived in the eastern section of Birmingham. She was a very successful realtor with Star Realty in Birmingham and then Village Realty in Gulf Shores. She loved to travel and play bridge and she enjoyed doing anything social with her many friends. She is preceded in death by her father, Lucian Calvin Huey, mother, Mertie Alice Huey and husband, Lex Housh and brother, Lucian Calvin, Jr. She is survived by her three children: Melinda Helveston (Bubba), Hardy Lex Housh, Jr. (Mike) and Susan Bishop (Richard). Seven grandchildren: Blake Helveston (Laura), Drew Helveston (Leigh) and Haley and Emily Helveston and Bret Bishop, Jordan Bishop and Cooper Bishop. And, five great-grandchildren: Mac, Zoe, Noa, Charlie and Hunter. Mildred celebrated her 90th birthday on March 16th surrounded by her entire family that she loved. It was a wonderful celebration that she greatly enjoyed. She was a much loved matriarch of the family and will be missed by many friends and family. She resided in Town Village and leaves behind many beloved friends and caregivers. Funeral service for Mildred will be Tuesday, May 15th at 11:00 am at Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church in the chapel. There will be a private service for the family.
