Funeral Services for Mrs. Mildred “Kitty” G. Harper, age 85 of Vestavia Hills, will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. James L. “Butch” Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining gardens.

Mildred passed away on Friday, October 11, 2024 at Prattville Baptist Hospital. Mildred, known as Kitty by everyone, was born in Memphis TN. The family moved to Birmingham in 1953. Kitty graduated from John Carrol High School in 1956. She married Walter Campbell 1958 and had 2 sons with him, Walter "Buz" Campbell and John Campbell. Walter Sr passed away in 1970 leaving Kitty to raise two children on her own. She went to work for the City of Vestavia and while working there she met Frank Harper, a fire fighter for Vestavia. Frank was tasked with raising the flag every morning at 8:00am, the same time Kitty arrived for work! Soon after on November 12 1982, they were married. Frank was active with the Zamora Shrine and eventually became the Potentate and Kitty was his First Lady. They traveled to many Shrine events for years around the country. Kitty loved going to their lake house, the beach and spending time with her grandkids. Mrs. Kitty was a member of many PTA’s over the years, she was a Cub Scout Den Mother and Lady of the Nile.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Frank F. Harper, her sons, Walter Campbell, Jr. (Jan) and John Campbell (Ann), her daughters, Wynelle Milstead and Denise Harper, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John T. “Jack” and Anna K. Goldschmid, her sister, Mary Ann Lovell and her brother, John T. Goldschmid.

Pallbearers will be Edward Lovell, Jr., Charlie Benjamin, Brandon Campbell, Brandon Shore, Drew Milstead, Danny Short, Blake Stephens and Grayson Powell.

Ryan Powell, Robert Stephens, Huffman Campbell and Daniel Short will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 from 12:30 P.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M. at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home.
