Mildred Braswell

Mildred died while living in Jacksonville, FL on September 30, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Wilbur Eugene (Gene) Braswell, her mother and father, Jesse Dean and William Bethal Powell and one sister Mary Jane Simmons. She is survived by her children Leigh Braswell Lawson (Alec) and Wilbur Eugene (Chip) Braswell, Jr (Gail). Grandchildren Lindsey Lawson Battaglia (Damon), Alexander Lawson, Raymond Christopher Braswell, Joseph Lee Braswell (Abby) one Great grandson, Samuel Alec Battaglia and her sister Norma Jean Davis. Mildred was an avid duplicate bridge player and a loyal fan of The Crimson Tide. She was a member of The Wuthering Heights Garden Club and The Amulet Club. Mildred lived in Birmingham for most of her life. She moved to Jacksonville, FL in 2004 to be closer to her daughter. Mildred was a long time member of Canterbury United Methodist Church, Christ United Methodist Church and Chet's Creek Church. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to: Community Hospice Foundation, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257 or Chet's Creek Church, 4420 Hodges Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32224. A memorial service will be held on October 4th, at The Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, AL at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive visitors from 1:30-2:00 p.m. in Clingmon Commons.
