Michael Shawn Gholson

Michael Gholson, also known to family as Shawn, age 53 passed away March 13th, 2024.

Mike was born in Irving Texas and then lived in Dothan Al most of his young life. He moved to Homewood and graduated from Homewood High School. He loved playing football and his teammate’s called him Caveman because he tackled someone after he lost his helmet.  

After graduation he worked at Jefferson Federal Bank, where he met his wife Teresa. They married September 24 1994.

They had their twins Jillian and Grant  on Christmas Day in 2001. 

Mike enjoyed coaching them in softball and baseball. He was a huge Auburn Tigers and Miami Dolphins Fan. He did not meet a stranger.  He had this infectious smile and he was always laughing.  His passion was bowling and he adored his bowling family. He also loved golf and  his long rides on his motorcycle.  He lived life to the fullest. 

He is survived by his wife Teresa, daughter Jillian and son Grant;  mom Melanie Jones and dad Dave Gholson (Linda);his brothers Mack Gholson(Sandy), Dale Riley(Crystal) and a host of nieces and nephews.

Please join us for the celebration of Mikes life  on March 16th at Jefferson Memorial in Trussville for his memorial service at 3:30-5:30, service to follow at 5:30 PM.
