Michael Brewer

Michael Taylor Brewer, 63, passed away on Thursday, January 17, after a five-week long battle with a lung illness. Mike was born on September 26, 1949 to Max Roy and Gwynn Palmer Brewer. He graduated from Minor High School in 1967, and from the University of Alabama in 1971. Until the time of his death, Mike was employed with O'Neal Steel and was approaching 41 years with the company. All who knew Mike loved him for his dry wit and were keenly aware of his love for baseball and fishing. Mike is preceded in death by his father, Max Roy Brewer, and is survived by his wife of 35 years, Carolyn; son, Taylor; mother, Gwynn; and many other loving extended family members. The family would like to thank the MICU nurses at St. Vincent's who cared not only for Mike but also for the entire family during this five weeks. They made a difficult time a little easier as God's angels. Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 from 11 am-1 pm at Valleydale Church. Funeral service will follow at 1 pm with the Rev. Reagan Benedict officiating. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East.
