Matthew Slovensky

Matthew Slovensky Jr., of Birmingham, AL, passed away peacefully at home on June 8, 2014 after years of declining health following a stroke. He is preceded in death by his daughter Debra Kay Slovensky Chambers, his sister Vicki Slovensky Martin and his parents Rosa Lee Slovensky and Matthew Slovensky Sr. Chapel services will be held on Thursday, June 12, at 12pm with burial in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Visitation will be from 6pm until 8pm Wednesday. He is survived by his loving wife Louise Baker Slovensky, son Matthew "Danny" Slovensky III, son in law Michael (Gigi) Chambers, grandchildren Cortney Chambers Rogers (Brandon), Andrea Kay Chambers and Marcus Chambers. He is also survived by three sisters Mary Slovensky Freeburg, Francis Slovensky Womble, Rose Slovensky Spears (Tommy) and several nieces and nephews. He served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Helena. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved life to the fullest. Our hearts are broken but now he is free and following the path God laid for thee. He took God's hand because he couldn't stay for he could no longer work or play. The hugs he shared, a laugh, a kiss all these things we will miss. His life was fulfilled with many good friends, good times and loved ones memories. We lift our hearts and share him, for God wanted him now and now he is set free. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
