Ruth A. Riddle was born in St. Clair County, Alabama on February 4, 1927 to the late Ervin and Bertie Lee Hess Adkins.
Surrounded by her family she died on August 6, 2015 and joined her husband, Dock in their mansion on the hill top. A long-time resident of Trussville United Methodist Church and attended the Charter Builders Sunday School Class. Her grandchildren were her joy and that was shown by the quilts and ceramic items she made for them. Thirty years ago she and a friend started a ceramic class at the church which she still attended.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dock; her parents, Ervin and Bertie Lee Adkins; her twin sister, Ruby Wilson; two brothers, Ervin, Jr. and John C. "Buddy" Adkins.
She is survived by one daughter, Judy Spain (Charlie); one grandson, Jim Barrett (Misty); one granddaughter, Cindy Willis (Tommy); one step grandson, Frank (Kim) Spain; great grandchildren: Payton and Caroline Barrett, TJ and Barrett Willis; step great grandchildren include: Meigs Barrett, Ashley Henson, Madison, Tai and Sydney Spain. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, James Wilson and two sister-in-laws, Odie Vann and Elizabeth Riddle; a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
Services and celebration of life will be Sunday, August 9, 2015 at 4PM with visitation from 2Pm until time of service. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Diabetes Association in Ruth's memory or to the American Cancer Society in honor of Jan Curtis.
