Mary Ray

Mary Elizabeth Webb Ray of Gulf Shores, Alabama went to be with her Lord early on the morning of December 30th, 2011 at the wonderful age of 100 years and 11 months. She was born on January 28th, 1911 in Humbolt, Tennessee. Mrs. Ray and her husband, F.P. Ray were married in Decatur, Alabama and later moved to Birmingham. Together they raised four children. They then retired to the Gulf Shores area in 1993. Mrs. Ray was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. F.P. Ray, two of her daughters, Joyce Ann Hendricks and Harriett Lee Smith, and one great-granddaughter, Stacey Lee Bassoff. She is survived and greatly missed by her daughter, Patsy Fitzsimmons of Hollywood Beach, Florida and her son, Robert P. Ray of Orange Beach, Alabama. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Scott Bassoff of Miami, Florida, Edwin Hendricks of Decatur, Georgia, Gregory Hendricks of Chicago, Illinois, Shawn Smith of Huntsville, Alabama, Scott Smith of Birmingham, Alabama, Brian P. Ray, and Ashton V. Ray of Orange Beach, Alabama. She also leaves behind five great grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews from her brothers and sisters. Visitation, as well as a graveside service in her honor will be held at The Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Birmingham on Tuesday January 3, 2011. Visitation will begin at 10:30 am and will continue until 11:30, with the graveside service following at 12 pm.
