Morgan, Mary Bullen. "MAMMA" (GRANDMOTHER) entered into the presence of the Lord on May 6. Known as a "true southern lady", she was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi on June 5, 1931. She grew up in Vicksburg and later attended Delta State University where she graduated with a degree in education. Mrs. Morgan retired from the Birmingham Board of Education. Mrs. Morgan loved to needlepoint, garden, and cook. She contributed to several published cookbooks, completed a lengthy "handwritten" recipe book of family "favorites" providing copies to her children and grandchildren. She spent much of her life as a full-time homemaker, mother, and wife while volunteering her time as a Club Scout Leader. She taught English at McElwain Elementary and later at Woodlawn High School. Mrs. Morgan never stopped learning or teaching and was admired by many of her students as well as her grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Morgan were recently honored at the new Hewitt-Trussville High School with the dedication of the Chemistry Department laboratory in their honor (Mr. Morgan was a chemist). Mrs. Morgan was a long-time member of and served as the Church Librarian at McElwain Baptist Church in Birmingham, AL. She was a member of Deerfoot Baptist Church where she was an active and inspirational member of her Sunday School Class. She is preceded in the recent death of her beloved husband of 57 years, T. Ray Morgan ("Papa Ray").She is survived by sons, David and Thomas; daughter-in-law, Pamela; grandchildren, Jennifer Morgan, Tray Morgan, Jordan Morgan, Joshua Morgan; step-grandchildren, Heather Kitchens, Tracy Massey; step- great granddaughter Taylor Massey; brother Robert Bullen of Chicago, IL; and several nieces and nephews. It was Mrs. Morgan's request that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Deerfoot Baptist Church's Building Fund at 5450 Mt. Olive Church Street, Trussville, Alabama 35173 or to your favorite charity. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 7 from 5:00-7:00p.m. at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. Chapel services will be held on Friday, May 8 at 2:00p.m. at the funeral home with Dr. Roger Wilmore officiating and burial to follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East.
