Mary Mestler

Mary Jean Prater Mestler, age 90 of Tuscaloosa, AL passed away on January 16, 2012. She was of the Baptist Faith. She graduated from the University of Alabama with top honors. She retired from teaching as a primary teacher with over 20 years of service. She was also a demonstration teacher for state colleges. While teaching, she raised four children, while her husband was serving his country. She is preceded in death by her son, Greg A. Mestler. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Captain George L. Mestler, Jr., US MC (Ret); daughters, Rev. Sandra McGarrah and Kristina Arment-Stark; son, Rev. Michael M. Mestler; brother, Pete Prater; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren. Memorial service will be on Sunday, January 22, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be an hour prior to services. Second Lieutenant U.S. Air Force Chaplain, Nathan Mestler will be officiating over the services.
