Mary Mayes

Mayes, Mary Verciglio (Nana) age 82 passed into Heaven on Oct. 12. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Roebuck. She was retired from Liberty Supermarket. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Josephine Verciglio of Birmingham, her husband Raymond L. Mayes, her brothers, Pete and Charlie Giazzizo, Norman Verciglio and John Verciglio. She is survived by son Joseph Tarantino (Judi) and daughter, Debbie Cook (Alex); two grandchildren, Todd Tarantino of Gadsden and Jason Wood (Laura); four great-grandchildren of Kimberly. One sister, Pauline Burchfield of Trussville and one brother, Ross Verciglio (Mary Ann) of Gardendale. Close friends, Ronald and Carol Coleman and Ms. Minnie. Her many nieces, nephews and friends will mourn her departure as well. She will be missed by all as a loving, giving and caring mother, wife, sister and grandmother, bringing joy into all of the lives she touched. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 14 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM with Rosary at 7PM. Services will be held on Wednesday, October 15 at 10AM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home with Father Andrew Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
