Mary Lee Green Craft of Birmingham, AL entered into the loving arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, March 4, 2021. A graveside memorial service will be held at 10am on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville, AL.
Mary was preceded in death by her sweetheart William T. Craft (Bill) whom she married on August 27, 1952 for 44 years until his passing. Mary was born in Dora, AL on July 15, 1936. She was the daughter of the late Jasper Franklin and Rosie Etta Jane Phillips Green and was one of 11 siblings.
Mary is survived by her sister, Louise Fox, Decatur, AL, her two daughters, Marie Craft Freeman (late John O. Sr.) of Birmingham, AL, and Brenda Craft Cherry (Ronald) of Springville, AL, grandchildren (late) Margaret Freeman Johnson (Jess Alan), John O. Freeman (Zanna), Laura Freeman Elledge, Lisa Freeman Crumley (Jim), Neely Phillips Dison (Miika), and C. Bryan Phillips (Misty), Jeremy T. Cherry (Amanda), Matthew Cherry, Carson Cherry (Kaila), and 20 great grandchildren and counting.
Mary’s passions in life were being a follower of Christ, studying her bible and praying for others daily. She was devoted to being a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and caring for the needs of her friends, neighbors, her family and church family. Her most memorable hobbies were walking with her sister at the Eastwood mall, and maintaining her yard.
As a loving sister, wife and exceptional mother, she worked for many years as a fine jewelry specialist at Golbro Jewelers in Birmingham, then upon retiring, she served her church family by loving on her many children at Parkway Christian Fellowship daycare.
In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Mary Green Craft can be made to the Dementia Society of America.
