Mary Lankford

Mary Elizabeth Perkins Lankford "Beth", of Vestavia Hills, Alabama, passed away peacefully November 4, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents Mary and Frank Perkins, her husband, Colman Ray Lankford, and her brother, Frank Perkins Jr. She is survived by her children: Coleman Ray (Cole) Lankford II, Maribeth Lankford Herndon (Alan), Amy Lankford Walker (Bill), brother C. Jackson Perkins, Grandchildren: C. Wilson Herndon (Lucy), Betsy Herndon Story (Rex), Andrew Herndon, Bailey Walker Ray (Thomas), Cody Walker, William Walker III, and great grandchildren: Maelee Story, Sara Thomas Story, Chip Story. Beth was born in Birmingham, attended high school in Decatur, and graduated from Auburn University. After marrying, they lived in Florence, Huntsville, Knoxville, Carmel, Indiana, and finally settled back in Birmingham. Beth was active in her children's activities, she was Director of Sequoyah Presbyterian Pre-school, member of Chi Omega alumni groups, Garden Clubs, Amulet Dance Club, Assistance League of Birmingham, and Mountain Brook Presbyterian Church. There will be a memorial service at Mountain Brook Presbyterian Church, Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at 3:00 pm. The family will receive friends after the service. A private interment will be in Cullman prior to the service. Pallbearers will be: her grandsons, Wilson Herndon, Andrew Herndon, William Walker, Rex Story, and Thomas Ray. The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Maldia, as well as, her caregivers: Balinda Palmer, Kurtrina Russell, Christey Watson, and Maryland Watson. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Mountain Brook Presbyterian Church endowment fund in memory of our mother.
