Mary Folsom

d. October 8, 2017

Born in Bon Air, Alabama, near Childersburg, the 2nd of 4 children. Survived by daughter Alicia Anne Folsom Scott and husband Perry, and son Fred Oliver Folsom, Jr., and wife Linda; five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; and sister Francis Wallis Brice. Mary Alice was born of humble beginnings, lost her mother at age 12, and was separated from her family. At age 17, she met the love of her life, Fred Oliver Folsom, Sr. and they were married for 53 years until his death. Some ten years later, while volunteering in a Grief Support Group, she met and counseled a grieving widower, Elmer Williamson. They married and found great happiness in being together until his death 14 months later. Mrs. Folsom was an industrious and successful business woman, providing workroom labor for numerous interior designers in the greater Birmingham area, both commercially and residentially. Mary was membered and faithfully attended and served at West Woodlawn Baptist Church, Crestway Baptist Church, and Roebuck Park Baptist Church and its relocated campus in Trussville. She became a Christian early in her life and followed the teachings of Jesus Christ in her church, family and business. Her relationship with Christ sustained her through many struggles and enriched her life to the fullest. Her final years were spent at the Villages at Cook Springs, an assisted living facility near Pell City, Alabama, where she was chosen Mrs. Congeniality in their Mrs. Cook Springs Pageant. The family would like to thank the entire Cook Springs staff for the excellent care and love they provided to Mary over the eleven years of her residency there. She considered Cook Springs her home and the staff there her friends and even family. Chapel services will be held on Wednesday, Oct 11 at 2pm with visitation from 1pm until service time. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
