Mary Frances Posey Durbin was born in Morris, Alabama on November 17, 1939. She went to
be with her Lord and Savior on February 24, 2020. A loving wife, sister, mother, aunt, mother-in-law and grandmother, Mary Frances was an exceptional homemaker, cook and baker. She enjoyed preparing meals for her family,especially around the holidays. Like her father, Mary Frances also had a love for gardening and you would often find her working in her yard. She had a green thumb and could make anything grow. Another favorite past time was watching her two grandchildren play their respective sports. Mary Frances attended Mortimer Jordan High School and graduated in the class of 1958. She was a life-long member of Oak Grove Baptist Church where she served as WMU director for many years as well as singing in the church choir. She married Elwyn Durbin on March 11, 1961 and they were married for 58 years.
Preceded in death by her parents, Gilder and Aileen Posey and sisters', Sarah Helen Scott and
Carolyn Skinner. Survived by her husband, Elwyn Durbin; son, Jeff Durbin; daughter, Julie (Eric) Helmers; grandchildren, Rhianna and Christian Helmers; sister, Saderia (Keith) Gilliland; niece, Angie (Bennie) Montgomery; great niece, Meleigha Montgomery; furry baby, Mandy. Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 from 5 to 7 PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. Services will be on Thursday at 12 PM in the chapel and the burial to follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Percy Byrd will be officiating over the services.
