Mary Margaret Boyd Coker, 82, of Altoona, Alabama, died Saturday night at St. Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham surrounded by family. She was born to the late Anna Margaret Butler Boyd and the late Edward Eugene Boyd on January 23, 1934 in Emerson, Arkansas. She married the late Tom Coker in 1950, and they lived in Birmingham for 47 years, before retiring to Altoona, Alabama in 1998. She was a member of Pioneer Baptist Church in Birmingham and, more recently, attended Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Altoona. Mary and her late husband, Tom Coker, founded Coker Printing Inc. in 1972. In 1982, her, her husband and son expanded the printing business with new technology and founded Precision Color next door to Coker Printing. Mary was a Master Porcelain Doll Maker and created many special porcelain dolls in her spare time. They both retired from these companies in 1997. During retirement, she worked at the vision center in Walmart for a few years but spent most of her time making dolls, sewing, quilting, and monogramming special things for her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary is survived by her son Tommy Coker (Dawn) of LaGrange, Georgia, whose children include Matt Coker Limbaugh, Chris Coker Limbaugh, Amy Strong, Mary Beth Coker, Laura Hullar, Cheryl Goss, Brittany Guthrie, Lindsay Summerlin, and Blake Walburg; her daughter Connie Harris (Barry) of Ft. Myers, Florida, whose children include Brian Limbaugh, Lara Landry, Melissa Calabro, Todd Harris, and Brittany Harris; and her daughter Pattie Harris (George) of Birmingham, Alabama, whose children include Chad Crocker, Wade Crocker, Lauren Sims, and Chris Belcher. Mary also had 31 great grand-children with number 32 on the way. Visitation will be from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 7, 2016. Funeral services for Mary will follow the visitation at 2:00 PM.
