Mary Laraine Bailey

Mary Laraine McGowan Bailey, age 64, of Birmingham passed away on September 11, 2019. She was a native of Defuniak Springs, FL. Laraine graduated from Auburn University in 1977 with a bachelor's degree. She retired as a forensic lab technician with the State of Alabama Department of Forensic Science. Laraine had a big heart and was a very giving person. She enjoyed knitting and quilting and often gave away her handmade quilts and blankets to expecting parents and others. She will be missed by all that knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tyson and Mary Lee McGowan. Laraine is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Leonard Les Bailey; her sister, Brenda Boland (Tommy); four nephews and her beloved cat, LuLu. Laraine will be interred at Magnolia Cemetery in Defuniak Springs, FL. A memorial service for close friends and family will be held at a later date.
