Mary Atchison

Mary Elizabeth Atchison, 82, of Mountain Brook. A memorial service for Mrs. Atchison is Saturday at 2pm in the Chapel at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home Trussville, with her nephew, the Rev. Joe Booth officiating. Burial will follow in the Jefferson Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Atchison died Saturday Feb. 13, at St Martin's in the Pines in Birmingham after an extended illness with cancer. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James and Willie Lou Manning Nash of Tuscaloosa. Mrs. Atchison lived in Mt. Brook most of her life, raising a family. Mrs. Atchison had a heart of gold, always putting others before herself. She was a devoted and wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a friend to all she knew and met. Mrs. Atchison worked at the Mt. Brook Cleaners in English Village for more than 20 years, before retiring. She is survived by her husband, Woodrow "Pete" Atchison of Mt. Brook; two sons, Michael (Michelle) Atchison, of Fairfax, Va., and David (Laura Nation) Atchison of Pell City; one brother, Jimmy (Margaret) Nash of Birmingham; two grandsons, Jonathan Atchison of Gardendale and Robert "Ken" (Megan) Atchison of Cleveland; one granddaughter, Graziella "Gracie" Atchison of Fairfax, Va.; two great- granddaughters, Lily and McKenzie Grace Atchison, both of Cleveland, and a host of other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her eldest son, Robert; her daughter, Susan; and three brothers, William R. Nash, Albert Thomas Nash, and John Robert Nash.
