Mary Louise Stringer Abel, beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Sister, passed away on Thursday, March 1. Predeceased by her husband, Richard C. Abel, Sr., her parents William and Mary Stringer, one brother, William Stringer. She is survived by her daughter and caregiver, Lynda A. Wheat, son-in-law, Jim Wheat, grandson J. Matthew Wheat, Great grandson, Caden B. Wheat all from Alabaster. She is also survived by her daughter, Patricia Maxey from Gardendale, Grandchildren Ginger Maxey Walker (Steve) of Madison AL, and Sherilyn Brock of Birmingham, Great-grandchildren Dustin Leipert, US Army, Marissa Walker, Madison, AL. and Levi Brock of Birmingham. Survived by son, Richard C. Abel, Jr. from Montevallo, Grandchildren, Rhett Howell, Kayla Jane Howell, from Trussville, Richard Haywood Abel, Montevallo. She is also survived by her brother, Daniel C. Stringer (Sherry) of Hueytown, Sisters Marlene Stringer Vann of Gardendale, Liz Stringer Vandigrifft of Albany, OH, Judy Stringer Carmichael of Virginia. Mrs. Abel spent her life in the Birmingham area. She attended Eastminster Presbyterian Church (formerly 76th Street Presbyterian Church) and was currently a member of Riverchase Presbyterian Church. She was so loving and so generous and took such good care of her family. Many thanks to all of her caregivers at Shelby Ridge Nursing home in Alabaster who saw to it that she was comfortable and cared for so well in her last days on earth. A special thanks to nurses Karen and Nikki and CNAs Robin and Aida for their loving care and help during these last days. Chapel services will be held on Monday, March 5, at 10am with burial in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Visitation will be from 5pm until 7pm Sunday. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
