Martha Mcginnis

MCGINNIS, MARTHA LOU HOLMES, age 72, of Springville, Alabama passed away on December 31, 2009, after a courageous four year battle with brain cancer. Preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Gene P. McGinnis and her parents James and Alma Holmes, she is survived by her four children: Dennis McGinnis (Sandy) of Locust Grove, Georgia; Shane McGinnis of Birmingham; Tim McGinnis (Margie) of Potomac Falls, Virginia; and Erin McGinnis Howell (David) of Springville; eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. McGinnis spent the majority of her life in the Birmingham area and graduated from Phillips High School. An avid amateur artist, she won numerous awards for her oil paintings. She loved to travel throughout the United States and toured the South-West region many times. She was a member of Crosspoint Baptist Church, Argo, Alabama. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 3, 2010 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Highway 11, Trussville, Alabama. A memorial service honoring her life will be held on Monday, January 4, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ryan Whitley presiding. Interment will follow in Jefferson Memorial Cemetery.
