Martha Lee

Martha Anne Fussell Lee was born January 21, 1935, the daughter of Ann Fitch and Ronald Fussell. She grew up in Chickasaw and Mobile Alabama and was in the first graduating class of C.F. Vigor High School. She graduated from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa with a B.S. Degree in Nursing-1957 and received a Masters Degree in Nursing-1964 from the same campus. She was on the first and founding faculties of the Jefferson State and Samford University Nursing programs. She was an active member of Ruhama and Huffman Baptist Churches having served as a Sunday School teacher at both churches. She was elected to Sigma Theta Tau Nursing honorary. She served as an accreditation visitor for the National League of Nursing. She married Joe D. Lee on March 30, 1957. Martha was called to her eternal home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the age of 74 on April 8, 2009. She is survived by her husband Joe, and her beloved golden retriever puppy Major. She is also survived by her sister Barbara LeGros, niece Ann Rambeau and nephews Ronald and David LeGros, great nieces, nephews, cousins, and many good friends and family. Funeral Services will be held at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville with burial in the Masonic section of Jefferson Memorial Gardens on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at 2:00pm with Dr. Harper Shannon and Dr. Tim Lovett officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be Saturday at the funeral home from 12:00 noon to 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers donations to any Humane Society, American Heart Association, or Huffman Baptist Church, would be appreciated.
