Martha Johnson

Martha Johnson, age 88, of Birmingham, died Monday, April 28, 2014 in Birmingham. She was a member of Plainview Baptist Church in Tarrant where she was a choir member and had served as a Sunday school teacher. Her interests was her family, reading, bird watching and her church family. Martha's hobbies was bird watching and her identification of the birds. She loved writing poetry and the poem "Thankful" is printed inside the memorial folders. Christmas was her favorite holiday which she enjoyed with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Hendrix Otts and Cenie Rainey Otts; two sisters, Marcenia Sprinkle and May Davis; two brothers, Adron Otts and Douglas Otts. Survivors include her loving husband of 65 years, R. Haskill Johnson; one daughter Vanessa Duke and her husband Tim; three grandchildren; Chase Duke (Steffanie), Alyssa Nelson (Ross) and Eric Duke (Samantha) Three great- grandchildren; Jackson Duke, Tara Duke and Conner Weaver and one soon to be great-grandson, Salter Nelson. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Friday, May 2, 2014 at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the family receiving friends Thursday at the funeral home from 5 until 7 pm and Friday 1:00 pm until the service time. Interment will follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens with Jefferson Memorial East directing the services.
