Thomas, Marjorie Marie (Margie) passed away on Monday July 14, 2014 at approximately 7:35 am at Hanover Health and Rehabilitation center, Birmingham, AL. Margie was born in Memphis, TN, to Fred T. Murry and Agnes Marie Chambers Murry on August 22, 1926. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Birmingham, and was an active member of the Seeker Sunday school class. For most of her life, Margie was a dedicated pre-school teacher in Memphis, TN and Baton Rouge, LA. Margie loved nature and finding beauty in everything that surrounded her. She spent her later years traveling with her son Bill to places like England and experiencing new things. She also taught her children and grandchildren how to be patient while waiting for flowers to bloom and how to be kind to others. She had a way of making everyone feel welcome in her home and in her life. Her husband Colclough Wren Thomas, with whom she was married for over 60 years, preceded her in death. Her parents Fred T. Murry and Agnes Marie Chambers Murry also preceded her in death. Survivors include her daughter Carol Ann Thomas Butler (James), her son William Colclough Thomas, her granddaughters Maggie Colclough Harrison (Joe) and Hannah Rose Heun (Adam), and her great-grandchildren David Aubrey George Harrison, and Charlie Wren Harrison, and by her sister Mildred Lee of Memphis. A small graveside service will be held on Friday July 18, 2014 at 10:00 am for family and friends at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens (1591 Gadsden Hwy. Birmingham, AL. 35235).
