Marjorie Sargent

Marjorie Sargent, age 90, was born October 22, 1922 to Dow Hewitt Batson and Tommie Oma Dee Riley Batson and passed into eternity October 3, 2013 in Birmingham, AL. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Gadsden, AL. In addition to her parents, Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Hoyt V. Sargent; daughter, Janet Sargent Shannon; sister, Hettye Colleen Garrett; brothers, Gary Edward Batson, Dow Wesley Batson; and great granddaughter, Allie Fay Laborde. Survivors include her son, Gerald Kent Sargent (Nancy); brother, Tommy H. Batson (Joan); four grandchildren, Bradley Kent Sargent (Ann), Laura Lee Laborde (Jimmy), Kellie Day (Jamie), Susan Dove (Richard); nine great grandchildren, Mary Grace Laborde, Olivia Rose Laborde, Emma Elizabeth Laborde, Henry Douglas Sargent, Katherine Ann Sargent, Margaret Elizabeth Sargent, Mackenzie Day, Jake Day, Madelin Dove; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Monday, October 7 from 10- 11:00 AM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. The graveside service will begin at 12 noon in Forest Hill Cemetery with Reverend Jordan Gervin officiating. The family would like to thank those who cared for Marjorie during her illness at Fairhaven Methodist Retirement Center.
