Marjorie Ann Smith Borger "GiGi" passed away , peacefully, on Friday, June 3, 2016 in Murfreesboro, TN. She was born in Fremont, NC on October 7, 1922 to Carl Relmond Smith Sr. and Bertha Bogue Smith. She resided for fifty years in Trussville, AL, living the last 16 years in Murfreesboro, TN. She is preceded in death by her husband Wallace Richard Borger and daughter Lynda Leigh Borger Sims. She is survived by her grandchildren, Mike and Cami Young of Suwanee, GA, Chuck and Kirsten Zelenka of Murfreesboro, TN, and Robby and Casey Wagner of Murfreesboro, TN. Marjorie is survived by her eight great grandchildren, Blayne, Ethan, and Keelan Young, Annabel, Avery, and Elly Casteel, and Bo and Wes Wagner; and her sister Edwina Lehr of Hampstead, MD. Marjorie earned her Bachelor's degree from North Carolina Community College for Women and her Master's degree from Sanford University. She was a teacher and principal for more than forty years, with the Jefferson County School System. GiGi enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and many wonderful friends at Adam's Place. Visitation and Services will be held from 12pm to 1pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens 1591 Gadsden Hwy., Birmingham, AL 35235, on Tuesday, June 7, 2016. Graveside service will immediately follow at Sulfur Springs Baptist Church, 7500 Roper Rd., Trussville, AL 35173. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trussville United Methodist Church, 120 North Chalkville Rd., Trussville, AL 35173
