Marion Loris

July 21, 1939 — March 8, 2021

Marion Shutika Loris, age 81, of Birmingham, AL passed away peacefully on Monday, March 8, 2021. Marion was born July 21, 1939 to John and Anna Shutika in Allport, Pennsylvania. Marion was a devoted housewife and loving mother of five children, twelve grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She was a devout Catholic and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church for 45 years.

The last 5 years of her life she lived at Kirkwood by the River in Leeds, AL. She was cared for by a devoted and loving staff in the dementia unit who all loved and cherished her.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, William Loris of 54 years. She is also preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna Shutika, brother Joseph Shutika, brother Edward Shutika and sister, Agnes Cantolina, sister-in-law, Barbara Phelps and brother-in-law, Edward Porta.

She leaves behind five children who loved and cherished her deeply. A son, Nicholas Loris of Finleyville, PA, four daughters Darlene McGregor (Mike) of McDonough, GA, Elaine McGowan (Steve) of Springville, AL, Diane Yackee (Bobby) of Odenville, AL, Jennifer Benfield (Kelly) of Rock Hill, SC, twelve grandchildren, Joey McGregor (Jennifer), Adam McGregor, Austin Blanton, Haley Loris, Michael McGregor (Talia), Justin Loris, Matthew McGregor, Alex Loris, Ryan Yackee, Evan Darden, Ethan Darden and Brianna Benfield, and one great-granddaughter, Penelope James McGregor.

She also leaves behind 6 step-grandchildren, Justin Yackee (Amber), Joshua Yackee (Ashley), Stephen McGowan, Megan Benfield, Bratton Benfield (Amber), and Madison Benfield.

She is survived by one sister, Helen Porta of McKees Rocks, PA and two brothers John Shutika (Marcie) of McKees Rocks, PA and David Shutika (Marian) of Coraopolis, PA, sister-in-law Peg Newman of Woodriver, IL and brother-in-law William Cantolina of Gibsonia, PA and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Birmingham, AL on a date later to be determined. Friends and Family are welcome. Private family burial to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Marion Shutika Loris can be made to the Dementia Society of America.
