Maria Powrzanas, age 91, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away June 7, 2011. Services will be on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, with burial in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. She is survived by her husband, John F. Powrzanas; daughter, Rosemarie Shaffer; sons, Harry Powrzanas, and Mike Papageorge; grandchildren: Christina Bush, James Hicks, Maria M. Strickland, Marc Papageorge, Guy Papageorge, Samantha Marshall, Nicolas Marshall, and Maria Powrzanas; great-grandchildren: Geoffrey Strickland, Alexander Strickland, Nikolas Papageorge, Andreas Papageorge, Matthew Papageorge, Michael Papageorge, and John Alexander Polk.
