Margorie Duncan

Marjorie Duncan went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 28, 2015. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Hilldale Baptist Church in Center Point, AL on Thursday, December 31, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carlton and Katie Goodwin, husband Billy Ray Duncan; two sisters, Katherine Morales and Mary Francis Gray; one brother, Fred Goodwin. Marjorie is survived by her son, Mike Duncan (Holly); daughter, Kathy Harris (Clay); four of the most wonderful grandchildren in the world (according to her): Christian Harris, Spencer Duncan, Kaleb Harris and Sophie Duncan; one brother, Shorty Goodwin (Bitt); several nieces and nephews: Diane Townes, Belinda McCullough, Donna Graves, Jenny Balkema, Vicki Webb, Larry and Steve Goodwin; one sister-in-law, Betty Goodwin; She was a native of Pinson, AL. She was an employee of the Birmingham Baptist Association for several years. Her title changed many times during those years, but the last was Special Assistant to the Executive Director/Director of Human Resources. She was blessed to serve along with three Executive Directors, Dr. Earl Tew, Dr. Ricky Creech and Dr. Mike McLemore. She also served as clerk for the Association. She served as pastor's secretary for Hilldale Baptist Church (Rev. Bobby Britt) and Ruhama Baptist Church prior to going to the Birmingham Baptist Association. Her first employment was to State Farm in Pinson, where her brother Fred Goodwin was the agent. In addition to her duties at the BBA, she also served on the board of Trustees for the Alabama Baptist State Convention, for three terms. She served as President of the Alabama Association of Baptist Secretaries. She attended the conference for 25 years. She served as Historian for two years. She also served as President of the Clerk's Conference for the State Convention for two terms. She was listed in the International Who's Who of Professional Management for Women in 1998. She loved her Lord, Family and Church, Hilldale Baptist, where she served almost every committee and term, at some point in time during her long tenure as a member. She taught for 45 years. She also served as a counselor for the worship service for 30 years. At her retirement reception she was honored with a room named in her honor The Marjorie Duncan Executive Dining Room. Marjorie was a source of inspiration and encouragement to everyone she came in contact with throughout her life. She was also a faithful prayer warrior. She entered the gates of heaven with "Well done my good and faithful servant".
