Margaret Gates

Margaret "Nell" Gates, age 87, went home to be with her loving Savior Jesus Christ on July 20, 2008 at her home in Clay, AL. Services will be held on Wednesday July 23, 2008 at 12pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. With pastor Cecil Nelson officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00am. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Jamie "Jimmy C" Gates and parents Margaret"Nannie" and AY Benson. She leaves behind her daughter: Alpha Cottingham; granddaughter: Kensi Cottingham; sister: Betty (Rolland) Oliver; niece: Lynn (Tim) Robertson; nephew: Tim (Sandy) Oliver; many great nieces and nephews that were like grandchildren, and special little buddy "Petunia." Nell was born in Clark County, AL but spent most of her life in the Birmingham area. She never met anyone that she did not immediately welcome in with open arms. She enjoyed spending time outdoors and taking all the grandchildren to many vacation spots. She was a true testament of Christ's love and will forever be missed here on our earthly home. We know you are happy now and only look forward to seeing you and "Papaw/Unkie" one day soon. Pallbearers will be Roland Oliver, Tim Robertson, Tim Oliver, James Cottingham, Jeremy Dickey, and Chris Wood.
