Madeline Stabler Fix passed away on April 15, 2017 in Milton, Georgia. Madeline was raised in St. Stephens, Alabama, attended Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama and was employed by the Grand Hotel in Fairhope, Alabama until she met the love of her life, the late Arthur Maddox Fix, Jr. and they were married April 16, 1949. They raised their surviving sons, Arthur Maddox Fix III of Milton, Georgia and Jeffery Louis Fix of Lakeville, Minnesota in Birmingham, Alabama. She and her late husband relocated to Milton, Georgia to be close their son, Art, who provided loving care for them during their later years. She was an active long time member of The First United Methodist Church and the McDorman-Allen Sunday School class of Birmingham, Alabama. While in Birmingham, Madeline enjoyed her work with Taylor Mathis. Upon her retirement, she loved to travel with her brothers Wilson Stabler of North Carolina and the late Lonnie Stabler of Virginia and their wives. She also loved to garden and showed her love for others through wonderful home cooked meals. She was a very dedicated grandmother to her three surviving grandchildren, Madeline, Lillian and Louis Fix all of Minnesota. Madeline is also survived by her sister, Cornelia Kennedy of Mobile, Alabama. Services will be held at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens in Birmingham, Alabama on Saturday, April 22 at 2 p.m. with internment at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. To honor her request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First United Methodist Church in downtown Birmingham. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
