Luther Wakefield

Luther James "Jim" Wakefield, age 89, of Irondale, passed away March 14, 2012. Mr. Wakefield was retired from Liberty Trucking after 32 years of service, and was a WWII veteran serving in the Army Air Corps in the European and Pacific theaters. He was Past Master from 1960-61 of 5 points Masonic Lodge #897, and currently Junior Warden at 5 points/King Solomon Lodge, and a graduate of the VA Blind Rehab Program in 2010. He loved fishing and gardening and was a fan of Cubs Baseball and Alabama Football. Mr. Wakefield was preceded in death by his wife Cloris Jean Webb Wakefield, parents Dock and Alice Wakefield, sisters Melba Spiller, Sara McCullar, and Ercel Knight. Graveside services will be on Saturday March 17, at 3pm with burial in Jefferson Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 1pm until 3pm Saturday. He is survived by his daughters Vicki Kral, Gale Hobbs, sister Merle Bryam, numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
