Lula Poer

Lula Mae Poer, affectionately known as "Maw Maw" to all who knew and loved her, went to be with the Lord on April 17, 2014 at the age of 80. She was born July 29, 1933 in Carbon Hill, Alabama and is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Wallace Lee Poer, affectionately known as "Paw Paw". The family takes great comfort in knowing they are reunited in Gods Kingdom. Maw Maw taught many lessons in her life - but reminded us always that family came first. Her spirit and legacy is carried on by her 5 children: Mitchell Poer (Susan), Judy Anderson (Mike), Kathy Smith (Mark), Karen Gallagher (John) and Dwayne Poer (Allison); her 11 grandchildren Amy Pearman (Nathan), Erin Hinz (William), Hannah Copeland, Melissa Hinn (Jeff), Emily Sikes (Scott), Kelley Nichols (Randall), Jenni Smith, Jessi Nickerson (Matt), John Gallagher, Taylor Grace Poer and Drew Poer; her 15 great-grandchildren Abbi & Josh Pearman; Jennings Hinz; Bella, Josie & Nico Hinn; Carter, Tristan & Andi Sikes; Eli, Grady, Rosie & Aila Mei Nichols; Hazel Smith and Julian Nickerson along with an extended family of in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends from every walk of life. She is a long-time member of Berney Points Baptist Church and since 2011 has resided at The Oaks on Parkwood where many loving friendships were formed. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 22, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville, Alabama with the funeral service on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at noon. Burial to follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East.
