Lucius Gerald "Jerry" Bullard, age 80, of Birmingham, passed away Friday, June 26, 2015 at UAB Hospital following a sudden illness. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was born on February 17, 1927 in Black Shears, Georgia. He moved to Birmingham as a child with his family. Mr. Bullard served in the Merchant Marines during WWII. He received his electrical engineering degree from the University of Alabama. Mr. Bullard was engineering instructor at Jefferson State Community College until his retirement. After his retirement, he authored "God's Big Bang." Mr. Bullard is preceded in death by his wife, Edna Winkles Bullard and his parents Lucius Moon and Hettye Mae (Guice) Bullard. He is survived by his children; Laura Thornton (Grady) of Birmingham, Rev. Mark Bullard (Jenny) of Pelham, and Steven Bullard of Birmingham; grandsons; Joel Nesmith (Pam) of Helena, Robert, Daniel and Thomas Bullard of Montgomery; a sister, Eloise Vincent of Birmingham; nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be on Monday, June 29, 2015 from 1:30-3:00 PM at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Chapel service at 3:00 PM. Rev. Mark Bullard and Brother Dane Davis officiating. Graveside Service to follow at the adjoining cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to The Jimmie Hale Mission, The Salvation Army or Brewster Road Baptist Church. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
