Loy Ruth McClain Godsey, age 84, died on May 10, 2013 as gracefully as she lived, while surrounded by her family. She was born in Marion Cty., Al on July 24, 1928 to Admiral Dewey Clay & Vista Britnell Clay. She grew up in Hamilton, Al and graduated from Hamilton High School as class Valedictorian. where she met and married Thomas Coy McClain, her husband of 49 years. She was a gracious and fine, southern lady, who loved her family. She lived out her Christian faith with a kind and gentle spirit. She was a member of First United Church of Guntersville, Al. She is preceeded in death by her husband, Thomas Coy McClain, sisters, Elva Clay and Lucille Clay Sims. She is survived by her husband, Johnnie Max Godsey, a sister, Avis Jean Palmer, a daughter, Charlotte A. Law, a son, Eric Clay McClain, four grandchildren, Stacy Ann Parsons, Amanda Leigh Boyington, Brandon Shawn McClain, & Eric Ryan McClain, and three great-grandchildren, Anna Leigh Boyington, Cayden Ridge McClain,& Vaylen Jax McClain. A memorial service will be held at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, on Monday, May 13, 2013. Visitation at 1:00 p.m., service at 2:00 p.m., with Dr. Terry Bently & Reverand Bill Millican, officiating.
