Louis Albert Thacker Jr was born June 21, 1928. He joined the Merchant Marines in 1944 and sailed around the world from New Orleans to Melbourne Australia, Calcutta India, Suez Canal, Gibralter, to New Orleans. He served in the United States Army from 1945 to 1969, primarily in the military intellegence. He was posted to American Embassies in France,Jordan, Germany, Turkey, Burma, and Taiwan where he served as a Chinese (Cantonese) interpreter. After retiring from the U.S. Army, Louis Attended Alabama A&M University, where he was the top graduate.Subsequently, he obtained a certified public accountant (CPA) license and worked for 25 years as an IRS agent.
Louis was admired and beloved by everyone who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his mother Hazel Thacker, father Louis A Thacker and sisters Violet Gerald and Vivian Giattina.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Thacker, brother James Thacker, neices Julie Park and Lea Underwood and Jennifer Thacker, nephews Tim and Joe Thacker and David Giattina, great neices Erin and Emmy Thacker, great nephews Justin and Jason Reach, Sawyer and Tanner Thacker, Noah Giattina, Aiden Reach and neices and nephews in Germany. Visitation will be held at Jefferson Memorial in Trussville from 11am to 12 noon on June 4th with service immediately following. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
