Lorene McGough Lopez went home to be with the Lord on February 6, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Lopez was born on February 6, 1925, in Nauvoo, Alabama, to Nellie Keeton McGough and Charles Edward McGough. What better birthday gift to receive than to celebrate with your Heavenly Father! She was a faithful member of Fultondale First Baptist Church and served 26 years with the Jefferson County Health Department. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mrs. Lopez was loved and respected by everyone she met. She loved reading books, playing dominoes and cards, and always played to win. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Charles Lopez, Sr., her parents, her brothers Archie (Ruth), Edgar (Helen), Barney Joe, and Hubert McGough; and sisters Susan (CJ) Pattillo and Bettye Lofton; and daughter-in-law Joan Garner Lopez. She is survived by her children Linda (Gary) Akin, Charles (Lenna) Lopez, Michael Lopez, and Deborah (A.C. "Buster") Crumpton; grandchildren and great-grandchildren Denise (Jeff) Harris-Tyler and Lauren; Jennifer (Ed) Newland-Erika, Ashley, and Kinlea; Jamie (Jan) Akin-Will and Eli; Danny (Kim) Lopez-Brayden and Brianna; Sandy (Steven) Faulkner-Sarah, Samantha, and Seth; Lorrie (Donny) Stricklin-Brennen and Hannah; Kenny (Debbie) Lopez-Abby, Amelia, and Anna; Chris (Angela) Lopez; Leigh Crumpton-Brodie and Reily; and Adam (Megan) Crumpton-Ada; brother-in-law Albert Lofton and a multitude of nieces, nephews and friends. Special thanks to Gloyce Austin who gave companionship and loving care and to Hope Hospice for making her final days as comfortable as possible.
