Lila Lee

Lila Yates Lee (b. 1934), age 87 of Brierfield, AL died peacefully in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on June 30.  She was a well-know, respected and loved teacher. She spent the majority of her career teaching third grade at Shelby Academy and retired in 1998. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church, Calera, AL, but her greatest joy was being a devoted wife, mother, and mama.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, William and Nettie J Yates, her sisters Imogene and Willene Yates, her brother William Yates, and her husband James H. Lee, Jr.

She is survived by her brother, Wayne Yates and her children Lila Dian Lee, Connie L Jones, James H. Lee, III, John David Lee, and Mary Lee.  As well as her five granddaughters, grandson, and 6 great granddaughters.

Visitation is Tuesday July, 5th at 1:00 pm. Private graveside service to follow at Jefferson Memorial in Trussville. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations be given in her memory to her alma mater-the University of Montevallo’s Legacy Scholarship fund.
