PATE, LERA JOYCE STEVENS, age 89, of Trussville, Alabama, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 03, 2014 as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was born in Decatur, Alabama, on February 27, 1925 and happily married to William Mack Pate, Sr (previously deceased) for 61 years. Mack and Lera were long time members of 85th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, and had transferred their memberships to Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Cropwell, Alabama, while they retired to Logan Martin Lake. Later, they relocated to Trussville and joined Deerfoot Baptist Church. Lera is survived by her four children: William Mack Pate, Jr. (Kim), Patricia Pate Mitchell (Paul), Dr. Robert E. Pate, and John Mark Pate (Kathy). Her six grandchildren are: Joe LaRocca (Tiffany; great-grandchildren: Reese, Charlie, Mia), Carol Burfitt (Scott; great-grandchild: William), Kellie Sanna (Matt; great-grandchild: Kaitlyn), Logan Pate, William Mack Pate III, and Christopher Pate. The family will receive friends at Deerfoot Baptist Church in Trussville on Friday, March 7, 2014, from 1:00pm until 2:00pm with funeral services beginning at 2:00pm.
