Lee Coston “Pete” Stalnaker, passed away at his home near Hayden, AL, on March 29, 2022. He was born in Birmingham, AL, in 1926. His parents were Carey Lee Stalnaker and Lula Dana Caughran Stalnaker of Birmingham. Pete graduated from Woodlawn High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He served with the Birmingham Fire Department at Station #3 from 1950 -1974. He founded Standard Fire Equipment, Inc. in Birmingham from which he retired. He was an usher and elder at 76th Street Presbyterian Church and Eastminster Presbyterian Church, and had most recently attended Smoke Rise Baptist Church. He lived a life of service to others and was a wonderful father and husband. He was predeceased by his parents and first wife, Evelyn Oaks Stalnaker. He was also predeceased by six brothers and sisters - John, Joe, Caroline, Tom, Shirley, and Don, as well as great-granddaughter Rayne Guerra. Survivors include his wife, Carol A. Stalnaker and his children, Ken (Kay) Stalnaker, Lynn (Robert) Cleveland, Becky (Mike) Everett, Libby (Tim) Gaines. He is also survived by a brother Bob (June) Stalnaker. Grandchildren are Jessica (Tyler) Hinton, Sarah (Alex) Odom, Kathryn Stalnaker, Greg (Tiffany) Cleveland, Dana Cleveland, Jon (Kim) Everett and Jeremy Everett. Great-grandchildren are Mary Carlisle, Elizabeth, Sam, Easton, Lila, Hattie, Griffin, Ashleigh, Matthew and Morgan. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Memorials can be made to a favorite charity. Pete’s funeral will be on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville, AL. His funeral service will begin at 2 PM in the funeral home chapel, preceded by visitation at 1 PM. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East.
