Lauretta H Adams

December 4, 1939 — April 2, 2019

Lauretta Howard Adams, a resident of Trussville, AL. passed into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday April 2, 2019 at the age of 79. Lauretta was born on December 4, 1939 in Mobile, AL., the daughter of H.P Ensign and Beatrice (Willie) Howard where she was raised in a family with a sister (Anne) and two brothers (John and William). She attended Old Shell Road Elementary School and Murphy High School. She met the love of her life, Robert D. (Bob) Adams, while riding horses at Braswell's Stables in Mobile and they were married at Trinity Episcopal Church on October 20, 1960. Her initial married years were spent in Mobile. In 1966, the family moved to the Birmingham area where she spent the remainder of her life as a homemaker raising her sons and enjoying the fellowship of other Christians at Liberty Church, where she was a member for over 40 years. Everyone that had the pleasure of meeting Lauretta, knew she was blessed with the gift of loving others. All who knew her and who were touched by her, were the beneficiary of this gift. Most importantly, this gift sprung from her strong and abiding faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a prayer warrior and actively involved in mentoring many other younger Christian women in their faith. Lauretta loved the outdoors. She loved plants and flowers and working in her yard with a green thumb that could make anything grow. She enjoyed wading and swimming in the ocean, long walks on the beach, picking up seashells, and beautiful sunsets that were a representation of God's glory. She also enjoyed time in the mountains where she took long hikes in the woods. She loved swimming with her grandkids in the pool, but only if the water was above 84 degrees (so Bob had a heater installed for her). She loved to travel and take cruises (with their seniors group from Liberty). She loved hot tea (Twining's Irish Breakfast), Walker Short Bread cookies, Petit Fours from Edgars Bakery and the scratch biscuits that Bob would make for breakfast. She enjoyed eating her breakfast while watching the huge variety of birds that would visit the many bird feeders placed on her back deck. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Robert D. (Bob) Adams and three sons, Robert M. Adams, Matthew P. Adams (Wife-Julie) and Peter J. Adams, grandsons Jonathan P. Adams and Andrew G. Adams; her brothers John Howard and William Howard, her brother-in-law, Robert Mattox; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was deeply loved by her family and friends and her smile will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 6th, 2019 in the sanctuary of Liberty Church at 2732 Old Rocky Ridge Rd., Vestavia, AL. Visitation will be from 10-11 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11 AM. A graveside service will be held immediately following at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East Cemetery at 1591 Gadsden Hwy, Trussville, AL.
