Laura Salmon

Mrs. Laura B. Salmon, 74 of Pinson, Alabama passed away on Saturday March 13, 2021 with her family by her side. Laura was born on August 17, 1946 in Oneonta, Alabama. Laura graduated from Cleveland High School in 1964 and received a Bachelors in Secondary Education from Jacksonville State University in 1979, additional education at the University of Southern Mississippi and an Associates degree in Nursing from Jefferson State Community College in 1981. She was married to Loyal T. Salmon, Jr. in January of 1969. They lived in Biloxi, Mississippi before relocating to Birmingham, Alabama in 1973. Laura was preceded in death by her parents, Wilson and Alma Burttram. Laura is survived by her husband, Loyal, her three daughters, Kathy Salmon Spruiell (Jeff) of Lilburn, Georgia, Donna Salmon Tinsley of Gillette, Wyoming and Kristi Salmon Bates (Greg) of Trussville, Alabama. Laura and Terry's foster son, Raymond Foster, her brother, Harmon Burttram (Melissa) of Oneonta, Alabama, and her sister, Kay Butts of Oneonta, Alabama. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Riley Spruiell, Sydney Spruiell, Cody Bates, Hayden Tinsely an Kyleigh Tinsley. Laura began teaching after college. She later changed careers and was a nurse for 30 years. She worked at both Carraway Methodist Medical Center and Trinity Medical Center before retiring in 2008. She loved to be creative and often would be found making something wonderful. Laura was immensley proud of her family. She was much loved an valued friend to many and always put others before herself. The viewing and funeral service will be held Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Palmerdale United Methodist Church. Visitation will be at 9:00 AM followed by a service at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to the Corinthian Fund at Palmerdale United Methodist Church.
