Kenneth Richardson Siddle was born in Newcastle, England, but moved to Scotland at the age of 3. He was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew Richardson Siddle and Mary Louise (Mopsy) Siddle, sister, Thelma Joyce Siddle Price, and twp sons, Derek Richardson Siddle and David Richardson Siddle. He is survived by his living wife, Isabel Cameron Robertson Siddle, a daughter Brenda Joy Siddle Elkins (Tim) and a son, Glenn Cameron Siddle (Lucy), seven granddaughters Michelle Lynne McDaniel, Ashley Pittard Wilder (Craig), Stephanie Siddle, Melissa Belle Siddle, Melanie Marie Siddle, Candice Dawn Elkins, and Carlie Deanne Elkins, Three great granddaughters, Eva Torrence, Rhianna ROse and Crimson Wilder.
Ken was a musician, learning at age 7 to play cornet in a Salvation Army youth band directed by his father. He attended college at night obtaining his marine engineering degree, and also a mechanical engineering degree at the Royal College of Engineering. He and Isabel met at a church social and they were married for 66 happy years. They emigrated to Canada in 1951 and the to the USA in 1953.
Ken was very active in The Salvation Army during his lifetime. At age 17, he was the leader of a boys' band (ages 8-16), which traveled extensively throughout the United Kingdom. Salvation Army brass band music was his passion. He was the4 bandmaster of the Sarnia, Onterio band and then the deputy bandmaster of the band and songster leader of the senior choir in Port Huron, Michigan. He moved to New Jersey and was the bandmaster of Paterson Salvation Army band. In 1971 he was transferred to Alabama with Beloit Passavant Corporation and joined Roebuck Baptist Church (now Northpark Baptist Church). He was a church deacon and a Sunday School Department Director for several years.
Not long after moving to Alabama he and Isabel (along with the Swansons and McKenzies) founded The Caledonian Society of Alabama, Ken serving as president for two years. He also was a member of St. Andrew's Society of the Middle South. He was a member of the Birmingham Area Chapter of Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge and served as the chaplain for several years. He was a member of the Senior Men's Club of Independent Presbyterian Church and served several years as president.
Ken was a loving husband, father and grandfather and enjoyed being with his family more than anything. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Services will be held on Monday February 2, 2015 with a visitation from 1:00- 2:00pm and a funeral at 2:00pm. Jefferson Memorial in Trussville will be directing.
