Kenneth Leonard Johnson, Jr., age 95, of Birmingham, Alabama passed away on March 7, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Leonard Johnson, and Thelma Norris Johnson, his beloved daughter, Diane Johnson Taylor, his first wife, Juanita Johnson, his brother, Ernest Johnson, and his sister, Virginia Johnson. Kenneth was a proud U.S. Navy veteran.
He is survived by his loving wife Betty, his son, Ronald (Kim) Brett Johnson , bonus daughter, Lisa Cone, his grandchildren, Jennifer Wolford, Wendy (Sean) Holmes, Madison Johnson, Meredith Johnson, Ashley (Daniel) Little, and great-grandchildren, James Little and Trinity Little.
Kenneth attended Woodlawn High School. He joined the Navy after highschool and served on a destroyer toward the end of WWII. When he returned stateside, he married his first wife, Juanita, and had two children, Diane, and Ron. They were married 46 years before she passed away in 1996.
He was a welder, and retired after 40 years of service as a welding supervisor from Chicago Bridge and Iron Company. He was a member of the Huffman Masonic Lodge and was a Shriner. He was a deacon at Huffman Baptist Church. He loved and participated in competitive shooting and was a lifetime member of Southern Skeet and Trap. He was a lifelong fan of University of Alabama football.
He married his sweet wife Betty in 2003 and they were blessed to be married for 20 years. They are members of and attend The Healing Place Church in Trussville.
The family would like to thank the hospitalist and the nursing staff at St. Vincent's East SICU and Cardiac Stepdown Units for their outstanding care.
