The family and friends of Katherine Burden Skaggs mourn her passing from this world but rejoice that she is now in heaven. We will miss her sweet smile and her laughter so much. She was dearly loved by all who knew her. Katherine was born in Hardinsburg, Kentucky in 1931 to Herchel Burden and Evelyn (Smothers) Slaughter. In 1966 she moved to Trussville AL with her family where she raised her children for 22 years and was a well known cheerleader of all sporting events her children participated in. Her job as a cashier at two different Trussville drug stores gave her the opportunity to meet and become friends with many people. She never met a stranger. She was preceeded in death by her parents, and her brother Eugene Burden, her sisters Nancy Simmons and Thelma Whitworth. Katherine is survived by her husband Charles Stanley Skaggs, Sr. to whom she was married for fifty-five years. She is also survived by her sisters and brothers: Ann Laura Blythe, Donnie Slaughter, Vandlyn Lucas, Chistine Coomes, Herschel Burden, Ida Creek, Pearl Newton and Angela Glasscock; her children: David Dunn, Brenda Dunn, Bobby Horsley, Tommy Horsley, Charles Stanley Skaggs, Jr, and Susan Skaggs Jones; her grandchildren: David Dunn, Jr., Bridget Davidson, Breanna Decker, Brian Horsley, Bethany Extine, Kelly Brooks, Jana Bice, Trey Skaggs, Brittney Bruno, Brandy Bruno, Jessica Cummo, and Whitney Jones; her great grandchildren: Justin Davidson, Kaylee Davidson, Preslee Decker, Carson Decker, Rex Extine, Christoper Dunn, Barrett Bice, Cody Bice, Courtney Bice and Charles Robertson Skaggs; and her great great grandson Brayden Davidson.
