Junius Augustus Cook, age 79 of Birmingham, AL passed away Saturday, January 25, 2014. Mr. Cook was a graduate of Woodlawn High School in 1952 and he was a man of the Baptist faith. He attended Auburn University, he was a Shriner, and he was a member of the #79 Elk Lodge. Junius was also a U.S. Army Veteran as well as a plant manager for 25 years at Metal Plate Galvanizing. He was preceded in death by his children, Edward Perry Cook, Karen Denise Amerson Cook; parents, Eloise Smith Cook, Junius Augustus Cook III; and his brother, Charles Edward Cook. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mary Alice Cook; son, Barry Alan Cook (Ellen); sisters, Pat Dawn Wesley (Robert), Emma Cathryne "Cookie" Williams; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday, January 31 from 1-2:00 PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. The service will begin at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Bill Neilsen officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to the American Cancer Society. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
