Juanita Rowe Summers Dorr stepped into heaven, her eternal home on April 12, 2016. She was born on February 26, 1920 to the late Brown Jackson and Frances Summers in Birmingham, Alabama. She was married to Carl Dorr in 1946 and moved to Oak Ridge, Tennessee in 1951 where she and Carl were faithful members of Central Baptist Church. Upon his death, in January 2010, she moved back to Birmingham and has been an active member of Deerfoot Baptist Church in Trussville, Alabama. The Bible was her most beloved book that she read daily. She was a dedicated prayer warrior and loved to share the Gospel with everyone she met. She was an encourager to friends and family and loved to stay in contact by phone or in person. In addition to her husband Carl, she was preceded in death by her brothers, BJ Summers and Hal Summers and sisters Hortense Hill and Susie Williams. She is survived by three sons, Bobby (Nancy) Dorr of Trussville, Alabama, Wayne (Susie) Dorr of Hendersonville, Tennessee, and Dennis (Linda) Dorr of Charlotte, NC. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The family would especially like to thank Cristie Hovy and Rita Gillian for the love and compassionate care they gave our mother and grandmother. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 17 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, Trussville at 1:00 pm with chapel service following at 2:00. Pastor and friend, James Long will lead the service with family members participating. Memorials may be given to Deerfoot Baptist Church, Trussville, Alabama.
