Joyce Ann Johns, age 79, of Birmingham, AL passed away on June 15, 2021. Joyce was a life-long member of The Church of God of Prophecy where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years. She retired from State Farm after serving in management for at least ten years. She was a devoted Christian who spent countless hours in prayer and studying God’s word. She had a caring and giving heart. She poured out so much love to her family and others. She was a soft spoken, intelligent woman with many talents. She was a wonderful cook, excellent seamstress, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, sister and a very special aunt to many but most of all she will be remembered for being a woman of God who remained steadfast in her faith for all her days; Joyce was a wonderful example of the love of Christ and Godley woman who always had a sweet smile. Joyce was preceded in death by a son, Perry Lee Johns; her parents, Ervin & Pelma Moxley and a sister, Nelly Faye Moxley. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, William Ellis Johns, Sr.; her children, William Ellis Johns, Jr. (Donna), Connie Denise Johns and Nancy Lea Johns sister, Dianne Boyett (Chester); ten grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. Family and friends will gather at Jefferson Memorial on Saturday, June 19th from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Her funeral service will begin at 3:00 p.m. with burial immediately following the chapel service at Jefferson Memorial’s adjoining gardens. Brother James Wallace and Pastor Daniel Stronge will officiate.
